Education quality

Erasmus University Rotterdam is a highly regarded university with many famous alumni. With a 72nd place in the World University Ranking (2022), EUR is in the top 2% of best universities in the world. However, we see that the quality of education is struggling to maintain, partly due to the covid measures. We must safeguard the core value of high-quality education so that students get the most out of their learning path and can get the most value out of their hard-worked diploma. This means that we will strive for the highest possible level of education in which knowledge transfer is central. Liberi Erasmi therefore wants to realize the following
  • As much physical education as possible where possible, but hybrid education as an option for students who need it. Students can now indicate at the beginning of each block whether they want to follow their lessons physically online.
  • Have all lectures (and tutorials where possible and necessary) recorded so that students can review the material for assessment during the academic year.
  • A minimum quality list for professional equipment (such as image and sound, internet connection, whiteboard etc.) for teachers and tutors to be able to properly design hybrid education so that students can follow lectures and tutorials at high quality that they are entitled to. It cannot be the case that free videos on YouTube have a higher quality than highly paid college streams.
  • Make as much study material as possible available digitally, including material that is licensed.
  • Anonymous examinations at all faculties. From now on, study programmes will be extra motivated to check exams purely on the basis of the student number. New tender software for exams will only be purchased if anonymous checking is an option.
  • More favourable standards for the transition from a bachelor's to a master's programme. An introduction of a standard norm for exemption requests for each bachelor's programme. It is a shame to suffer a study delay of a whole year for one subject.
  • More supply and development of interdisciplinary bachelors, minors and masters, as well as better subject-related cooperation between EUR and other universities, which is required for this.
