A diverse and healthy catering policy

The food supply is an important part for many students because it is difficult to study on an empty stomach. However, there has been some discussion about the food supply in recent years. For example, there are initiatives to take away the freedom of choice of students who want to consume meat on campus. We are in favor of striving for the healthiest possible lifestyle for students, but this should not be at the expense of the freedom of choice that students have. In addition, there are inconvenient opening hours of the catering on campus. Liberi Erasmi therefore wants to mean the following:

Liberi Erasmi will guarantee the core value of safety, whereby every student can come to campus involved and safely without feeling that he/she does not belong because of his/her ideology, personal and/or political preference.

Liberi Erasmi wants:

  • Catering facilities on campus must be open during breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Students should be able to maintain their freedom of choice about what they can and cannot consume. (So no mandatory Vegan policy)
  • A study into support among students for alternative options that restrict individual freedom as little as possible, such as introducing financial incentives to make food with a low CO2 footprint cheaper than usual (and not make other food more expensive)
  • There should be a variety of options for students with different lifestyles. There should always be an option for vegetarians, vegans, pescetarians and meat eaters.
  • Encouraging a healthy lifestyle
  • As long as the campus is open for studying, there should be a possibility to obtain quality food. This can be done by means of vending machines in which, for example, (ready-made) meals can be sold.
